Newspaper mentions of blogs this weekend:
- AP story on tired blog/journalism/ethics intersection. At least it bothers to quote Jerome Armstrong, Rebecca Blood, and Pew.
- Knight-Ridder story on Super Bowl blog contest. Notable for clearly un-hip experts: "The Internet is becoming a water cooler on steroids."* "It's like meta-commentary."
- SF Chronicle special report: how your blog can get you fired, how people are "baring their souls" online, and blogs "coming of age as a source of news" (yawn). The latter has a short, biased set of "links to the more popular blogs by category" but also points readers to the half-dozen top blog hosts and software tools.
The "baring souls" article provides a few case studies of how some people prefer to deal with tragedy (from the death of a spouse to the Indonesian tsunami) through impersonal, nonmediated means.
